I am a professor of translation studies and teach in the BA program in translation in the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (IUED) and the MA program of the School of Applied Linguistics at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW). The IUED and School of Applied Linguistics are based in Winterthur, the second largest city in the Canton of Zurich, Switzerland. Although our university does not have a PhD program, I am open to requests to co-supervise doctoral theses.

My main research interests are:

Born and raised in Canada, I completed a PhD in Experimental Linguistics there before settling in the Zurich area of Switzerland. Having taught ESL in Canada to immigrants and foreign students, teaching English was the logical entry to a career in Europe. Translation work from German into English (technical, financial, and business genres) soon became part of my professional repertoire. Teaching and research at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences in Winterthur demands much of my time now, with past and current research focused on multilingualism, English in Switzerland, and translation processes.
